Fraud Awareness
Unfortunately, the adult industry always carries the risk of fraudulent activity. SextPanther deploys a variety of reports and tools to help identify fraud and shut down any suspicious transaction attempts as well as prevent that fraudster from making additional accounts. For the few instances that get through, the models are an additional line of defense to help spot and report suspicious users.
What to Look For
Trust your gut! Unsolicited tips that are usually larger than normal and happen early in a conversation (i.e. toward the very beginning of a new connection) are often a red flag for fraud. Another red flag is a new user who doesn’t hide their balance and has an unusually high balance and/or adds large amounts of credits in a short period of time.
Yes, the promise of a large amount of money is difficult to turn down, but try to look at it with a clear head and ask yourself: Does this seem fishy? Some things to look out for—
Someone contacting you off platform claiming to represent SP
A new user dropping—or promising—a large tip for something you wouldn’t normally price that high
Requests to deliver content off platform even if they tip on platform
A user telling you they’re having trouble purchasing credits, trying to push you off platform or promising to compensate you later or in some other way
If you have the slightest question in your mind, do not engage. If the sketchy behavior happens on SP, report and block the user. You won’t lose credits for the messages they’ve already sent. That said, if you’re suspicious of fraud, please do not try to draw out the conversation.
If it happens off platform but related to SP, like the Skype scam, screenshot the conversation and email models@sextpanther.com. Let’s keep each other safe!
Common Scams
A model receives a message on SP asking for a custom to be delivered off-platform (e.g., Telegram, Skype, Snapchat). The custom may be relatively simple (e.g., holding a sign with specific text) and the user may be offering an unusually large amount for a relatively simple request.
A fan will ask you to send them a $50 digital gift card in exchange for a generous tip, usually 2 or 3 times the amount of the gift card. While the big tip may sound enticing, these scammers will often use stolen credit cards to tip you. This will almost certainly result in a chargeback and if successful, the scammer gets away with some of that sweet, sweet gift card money.
A model receives a Skype message from an account that claims to be SextPanther, which presents a “Premium Offer” from a “VIP Member” and asks the model to accept or reject the offer. Scam! 😵 Not only does SP not have a Skype account, SP only contacts models via the platform or an email from an @sextpanther.com address. There is also no such thing as a premium offer nor are there VIP members.
