Go Premium—Explained
“Go Premium” is a new incentive program aimed at users who have never purchased credits on the site (or some would like to refer to them as “freeloaders” 😉). The broad intention behind this is, of course, to prompt users to spend and engage more meaningfully with models.
Users who have never purchased credits (“free users”) will be restricted from certain site features. If they try to access these features, they’ll see a pop-up notification that urges them to “Go Premium” by adding credits. If they don’t add credits, they can’t…
Hide their credit balance
Why? The platform design should help models prioritize engaging users who have credits or a history of purchasing credits. Users with no credits can’t hide behind a hidden balance in the hopes that models will still give them attention.
Add more than 5 models to their contact list
Why? Limiting the number of models a free user can add before they purchase credits helps users understand that they should add models only with the intention of actually engaging with them. This also helps models focus more on users with credits, since 0-credit users cannot go on an adding spree.
Unlock more than 10 free media messages
Why? This prevents lurkers from accessing unlimited amounts of free media and pushes them to add credits even if they want to continue only unlocking free content.
Access their Collection page
Why? Even if a user unlocks their maximum 10 free media messages, this prevents them from having easy access to seeing them all in one place. Highlighting the Collection page as a feature also encourages users to purchase credits to discover how it works.
Add a profile picture
Why? A user being able to share something about themselves with a model should be understood as a perk of adding credits—not an automatic privilege.
Hand-in-hand with encouraging users at different points to purchase credits is the offer of bonus credits with their first purchase. When they go to add credits, they’ll see a deal to get 10 free credits with the purchase of any pre-set credit package. The intro offer packages are $10, $50, $100, $250, and $500, so a user would spend $10 and get a free $10, spend $50 and get $10, and so on. Clearly, the best offer is the lowest buy-in for a user; the intention here is to help them overcome the barrier of a first-time purchase with a low buy-in amount and get them hooked. This offer is not available to existing users or to users who have purchased on a previously deleted account.
Premium users will now have a badge by their username to indicate their status.
In case you didn’t already know, there are a few other system features that encourage 0-credit users to purchase credits:
Free users can type in the message box, but when they hit send, they see a pop-up informing them they need to add credits before they can send the message.
Free users can tap the tip, phone call, and video call buttons, but they’re prompted to add credits before they can complete the action.
Both the new Go Premium program and the existing site features are meant to encourage users to try the site in a low-stakes way, so remember—first impressions are important! Greet new contact adds as soon as possible, match their energy, be genuine in your approach, and reel them in 🎣
