Uncover Ways to Earn: Utilizing Add-Ons
Though you have a per-minute price for your calls and may have a baseline price for customs, you will likely receive requests that ask you to do something outside of or in addition to your typical offering. When you field these requests, you have the opportunity to charge more for add-ons—as long as you’re upfront and transparent, of course!
How to Handle Add-Ons
You can negotiate add-ons in the moment while messaging, or you can create a tip menu and keep it pinned on your profile or readily available to send upon request. If you don’t use a tip menu, consider keeping your own notes on what you charge so, for example, you don’t accidentally quote the same user different prices at different times.
For custom requests, you can roll the add-on price in with the entire price you quote for the custom. Read more about pricing your customs here.
For special requests for calls, you can request a tip before the call begins. If they ask for something out of the blue during a call, the choice is yours. If the request takes time (e.g., an outfit change), you’ll be paid per minute while the call goes on. If the request is an activity you don’t usually do (e.g., anal), you can request them to tip in the moment without leaving the call as long as they’re calling from the browser. (If they’re calling from the app, they may need to hang up, tip you, and call you back.) If you’re not comfortable with the request, you can suggest an alternative or turn them down. For example, you might say something like, “I’m not warmed up for that, but give me a little warning next time,” or “instead, let me show you what really turns me on.”
As always, if a user asks for something that violates the Code of Conduct, attempt to redirect them to safe territory. If they continue to push for this content, report them and feel free to block them.
How NOT to Handle Add-Ons
Anything you charge extra for should never be a surprise to a user. You should never entice a user to call and then suddenly demand tips for the simplest of things they didn’t know they needed to tip for. (We’re not talking about findom calls here, in which additional charges are not a surprise.) It is also unacceptable to demand a tip to be added to a “waiting list” for calls (which doesn’t exist on SP) or to suddenly raise call prices after a user says they’ll call. Many of these tactics are considered bait-and-switch pricing, which is against the Code of Conduct.
A Sampling of Typical Add-Ons
Outfit Requests
A user might be drooling over a recent profile pic showcasing your new lingerie. They might be dreaming of you in black yoga pants or a leopard print bikini. Maybe they have a specific roleplay in mind that requires you in heels, stockings, a turtleneck, and bondage tape (safely applied). Remember that time is money. If you need to spend time putting together the outfit or even simply changing your panties, you can ask for more.
“Extracurricular” Activities
Not all models offer anal-related acts, squirting, bondage, body oil, and the like. If you specialize in these activities, don’t sell yourself short! What you offer is not a dime a dozen, so consider these an add-on. Even if you like a little butt play and it’s not all an act, users will pay an additional price to see you in action. When pricing, consider both the offering itself being rare as well as any additional prep and clean up required.
Interactive and Specialty Toys
Whether this is a vibrating toy or a whole sex machine, interactive toys are a great add-on. If a user requests to control your toy OR if they ask you to control theirs, you can sell this as an add-on. This request requires you to get the toy, ensure the bluetooth connection works, create a control link, and then send the control link. Plus, they get to control your toy! If you’re donning a harness and strap-on, engaging with a doll, using multiple dildos at once, etc., consider these as add-ons as well. You can calculate your toy price as a set or per-minute price; either way, quote them a single price for the add-on to avoid confusion.
NOTE: If you are selling control of your interactive toy, be sure to give your user a control link and not your app username. Sharing the link only still puts you in ultimate control of your toy and interaction. Sharing your app username would violate the Code of Conduct by promoting an alternative communication-based site. Read more about creating a Lovense control link here.
Typical Toys
By “typical toys,” think of your average dildo or vibrator. Many models include toys as part of their typical video calls. If you don’t, that’s ok, but your per-minute price should reflect this, and you should consider making this clear when a user requests a call or in a tip menu pinned on your profile.
