Begin Engaging: Video Calls
estimated reading time: 4 min
Give your clients the most intimate virtual experience possible with a one-on-one video call. When you’re ready, all you need to do is turn on your availability so that clients know they can video chat with you. Once your video calls are on, you’ll appear in the site’s Video Calls section, allowing users to find you.
You can turn video calls on for up to 12 hours in one-hour increments. If you need to turn off calls earlier than planned, just toggle them off again. Turn on your calls only when you are ready and willing to take calls. No one likes a missed call!
Adjust your per-minute call pricing and minimum call time in your Profile.
Find Your Call Availability
App
At the bottom of the app screen, select Calls. Then toggle on video calls for the duration you want.
Mobile Browser
You can manage your video call availability from
the Calls section of your Model Dashboard (the first screen you see when you log in to your account), which has the buttons that allow you to turn calls off and on, OR
the Calls tab under the menu button (the three horizontal bars in the top left corner).
Desktop Browser
Like the mobile browser, you can manage your video call availability from
the Calls section of your Model Dashboard OR
the Calls tab in the left navigation bar.
Set Up for Video Calls
Ready to get up close and personal? Make sure you’ve set the stage—both your tech and your physical space. See [link TK] for a deep dive into setting up for video calls.
If you’re using the app, ensure that you’ve turned on notifications and that the app has access to your microphone and camera.
If you’re using the mobile or desktop browser, ensure that your device’s sound is on and that the browser has access to your microphone and camera.
For any device, if you’re using external speakers or headphones, ensure that your device’s sound input and output are going through the speaker and headphones of your choice.
Ensure your internet connection is strong to avoid call quality issues on your end.
Don’t underestimate the power of a good camera and good lighting!
Take Video Calls
When a user calls you, you’ll hear the ring (if your sound is on) and the display will show the client’s username along with options to accept or reject the call.
Once you’ve accepted the call, you’ll see a pre-call confirmation screen. Here’s where you should check the connection (“Can you see me and hear me ok?”). If you see that both of your connections are strong and the client can see and hear you, you can connect the call, and then the client can also connect the call.
TIP: A client may ask for you to show or say something in particular, don’t give away anything for free during the pre-call confirmation. Wait until you both connect.
Once you’ve both connected, the client starts being charged immediately. If one of you doesn’t connect for whatever reason, the call will be considered canceled, not missed, which you’ll see in your messages with that client.
When the client has two minutes worth of credits, you’ll see the time remaining in a red block in the top left corner of the call display. The client can add credits at any point during the call. If the call disconnects due to the client running out of credits, they have 5 minutes to add credits and restart the call, or they can choose to completely end the call.
TIP: Stay on the call screen until the client disconnects the call. If they add credits and rejoin the call, you won’t know unless you’re looking at the screen.
After the call, you have the chance to rate the call. If there was an issue, please give a thumbs down and take a minute to report the issue. If the call was free of technical issues, give it a thumbs up!
